CWS Construction in Riverside, CA | Sycamore Contractors
We’re an independent contractor installing and servicing CWS cabinetry and millwork across Riverside. The short version: if you own CWS cabinets in a Wood Streets bungalow or an Orangecrest tract home, we’re the crew that can diagnose whether the problem is the cabinet or the house it’s bolted to. That distinction matters more in Riverside than almost anywhere else in the Inland Empire, and it’s the reason our CWS work here looks different from a generic cabinet install. Call (877) 265-6284 for a free estimate.
Why Riverside Residents Choose Us for CWS Service
We’re not authorized by CWS, and we say that straight out. We’re independent, which means our loyalty is to the person writing the check, not to a product line. That independence is exactly why we’re willing to tell you when a CWS line is the wrong call for your layout, or when the cabinet boxes are fine but the wall behind them isn’t.
Nate Calloway runs our CWS repair in Rubidoux and across Riverside. He grew up in Temecula’s Redhawk neighborhood and spent two decades running crews across Southwest Riverside County before Sycamore Contractors became what it is now. His rule, which he applies to every cabinet job we take: “Do it right the first time, or you’ll do it twice in the July heat.” Riverside summers test that rule daily. We bring brand-name materials you can research before you commit, and we bring options, you make the call. One contractor, every phase.

Common CWS Construction Problems We Solve in Riverside
Riverside’s heat and housing stock conspire against cabinet hardware in ways that don’t show up in other cities. Here’s what we see most often:
- Face-frame and hinge-plate screws stripping or backing out after years of 100°F+ inland swings. This is common in 1980s-2000s tract homes in 92508 and 92505 where the original installers over-torqued screws into CWS Concord birch plywood boxes. The repeated expansion and contraction works them loose. We step the hardware up a size and reset with OEM hinge plates.
- RTA cabinet boxes racking out of square. CWS’s ready-to-assemble all-plywood line is solid, but only if it’s assembled square and mounted to a stable wall. Older core homes in 92504 and 92506 sit on clay soils that heave. The box gets twisted, doors stop aligning, and no amount of hinge adjustment fixes it. We rebuild or replace, and the wall gets a new ledger first.
- MDF door and drawer fronts swelling at the bottom rail. CWS Charleston recessed-panel painted MDF fronts don’t like hard-water splash, and Riverside’s water is hard. In older 92506 kitchens with no exhaust fan and a dishwasher venting steam into the cabinet run, the bottom rails delaminate. We replace with solid-wood CWS fronts in the matching factory paint code.
- Runs installed out of level against an out-of-plumb wall. A 1920s Wood Streets bungalow has settled. The wall leans. Fillers and crown can’t close the gap, and the countertop ends up shimmed three-quarters of an inch. We pull the run, fix the wall surface, and rehang. The cabinet wasn’t the problem; the wall was.
- Kitchen layouts that fight the cabinet dimensions. Riverside’s tract homes from the 80s and 90s have cramped galley kitchens. CWS stock cabinet sizes don’t always fit without awkward filler strips. We rework the layout with correct filler placement and modified end panels so the run looks intentional, not forced.
CWS Service in Riverside: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s the Riverside-specific fact that most cabinet installers in neighboring cities never have to deal with: the Wood Streets and the 92501 downtown core sit on 19th and early-20th-century citrus-grove-era brick and stone rubble footings, and those footings don’t meet modern seismic standards. Any room addition or second-story project in that part of Riverside usually triggers a full foundation retrofit before a single new cabinet can be hung. Our crews hit this constantly in 92506 and provide Glen Avon CWS service. Out in 92508 and 92505, that conversation never comes up. The homes are 1980s-2000s slab-on-grade construction, the slab moves a little with the clay but it’s a different failure mode entirely. When a CWS cabinet run fails in the Wood Streets, nine times out of ten the house started it. When it fails in Orangecrest, it’s usually thermal cycling and the original install. We treat those two situations differently, and we can tell which one you have before we quote the job. No other CWS page will tell you that, because it’s a Riverside-specific thing.
One job sticks with us. On a Wood Streets bungalow in 92506, our crew pulled a 1990s CWS cabinet run off the wall to find the original citrus-grove brick footing behind it had settled several inches at one corner. The boxes had been shimmed for years, and the doors never closed right. We rebuilt the run square on a new ledger and full-height backer, replaced two swollen MDF drawer fronts with solid-wood CWS fronts in the matching paint code, and set an OEM hinge package. The doors have tracked clean through two summers since. That’s the difference between replacing hardware and understanding why it failed.
CWS Models & Products We Service in Riverside
We install, reface, and repair every CWS cabinet line that’s common in Riverside kitchens: the Concord assembled birch plywood cabinet boxes, the Charleston recessed-panel painted MDF doors, the Shaker-style solid-wood door and drawer fronts, and the ready-to-assemble all-plywood cabinet line. For parts we spec OEM hinges, drawer glides, and touch-up finish directly from the manufacturer, because CWS hole patterns and paint codes are line-specific and aftermarket substitutions cause exactly the failures we get called to fix. We’ll use quality aftermarket hardware only where OEM isn’t available. Our call on repair versus replace is simple: refacing or replacing fronts makes sense when the boxes are solid and square. Once the box itself is racked or swollen, we push for full replacement rather than chasing it with band-aid fixes that fail again next summer.

AfterCWS Service Pricing in Riverside
Pedley CWS service and Riverside CWS work covers a wide range because the scope varies with the home. A straight cabinet reface on a 92508 tract kitchen is a different job from a full remodel on a 92506 Craftsman with foundation issues. Here’s where our free estimates land:
| Service | Riverside Price Range |
|---|---|
| Full Kitchen Remodeling | $14,000 – $45,000 |
| Cabinet Installation | $4,000 – $13,000 |
| Countertop Installation | $2,000 – $6,500 |
| Backsplash Installation | $800 – $2,500 |
| Kitchen Island Installation | $3,000 – $10,000 |
What drives the cost: the condition of the wall behind the cabinet, the layout complexity, whether foundation work is already done or we’re dealing with it mid-project, and the specific CWS line you choose. A free estimate means we come out, look at the actual house, and give you a written line-item quote. Call (877) 265-6284 to schedule yours.

FAQs – CWS Construction in Riverside
They need to be installed correctly, which most original tract-home installs weren’t. West-facing kitchens in 92505 and 92508 get brutal afternoon heat, and the thermal cycling is what backs out hinge screws and strips face-frame screws over five to ten years. CWS Concord birch plywood boxes hold up fine when we use the right hardware torque and set screws with the appropriate bite. The failure isn’t the cabinet; it’s the install. Call (877) 265-6284 and we’ll inspect yours before it fails.
Yes, but not the way a production installer would. The floor being out of level usually means the wall framing and the footing have moved, and that has to be addressed before the cabinet run goes in. We’ll plane down high spots, shim the base to level, and secure the run to a proper ledger rather than relying on the wall alone. In a 1920s Wood Streets home, we expect citrus-era foundations and plan for them from the first measure.
Both. If the cabinet boxes are square and the plywood hasn’t racked or swollen, refacing with new CWS solid-wood fronts, OEM hinges, and fresh drawer glides is a smart spend. If the boxes have twisted from slab movement or the MDF has delaminated beyond saving, we’ll tell you straight that replacement is the only fix that lasts. We won’t reface over a failing box just to close a sale.
That’s our normal job. We handle full kitchen remodeling, cabinet installation and refacing, and quartz and granite countertops under one contract. Sycamore Contractors works with Cambria, Silestone, and Caesarstone for countertops, and KraftMaid and Wellborn when you want a different cabinet line. So the cabinet run, the slab, the backsplash, and the island all come from one accountable team. From the roof down to the driveway, we keep it all in-house.
Cabinet-only installation is usually 2 to 4 days on a stable tract home. A full remodel with countertops, backsplash, and island runs 4 to 8 weeks, and in 92501 or 92506 a foundation retrofit can add a couple of weeks before the cabinets start. We’ll give you a build calendar at the estimate. Call (877) 265-6284 for an exact timeline on your project.
